C2G adapts online to COVID-19

By Nicholas Harrison / 7 April 2020

With the COVID-19 pandemic now causing significant disruption internationally, and in-person meetings seriously curtailed for potentially many months ahead, C2G is adapting its delivery approach through development of a range of ‘no travel’ online engagement and outreach options.

Following a review of our planned activities for the year ahead, including many meetings and events internationally which are now either postponed or cancelled, the team have been busy brainstorming and planning how to most effectively adapt to an online-focussed delivery approach.

In the short term, where possible, many of the outreach and engagement activities we had planned for 2020 will be replaced with video conferencing, webinars and pre-recorded presentations. This cannot replicate the richer level of engagement afforded by in-person meetings and activities, but we still hope to achieve considerable impact through adapting our activities in this way.

In the medium term, we are also now working to develop a wider range of activities and resources to deliver online opportunities to raise levels of awareness, knowledge and understanding among our target audiences in line with the C2G mission. Approaches currently being considered range from new webinar series, ‘ask the expert’ sessions, and virtual brown-bag lunches to podcasts, issue-focussed policy briefs, and structured online learning offerings. As with all of our work we are exploring how to catalyse and collaborate with partners, platforms and channels that will help multiply our efforts to deliver on our mission.

We are fortunate and grateful that our funders have been so supportive of our efforts to adapt during this unprecedented and challenging period and we look forward to you and your colleague’s engagement and collaboration in the many new online activities and resources we will be delivering over the months ahead.
